Dorothea is President of Capitol Special Risks, a division of Specialty Program Group, LLC, a niche Professional and Management Liability insurance brokerage division, based in Atlanta, Georgia. She has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Oglethorpe University and has been licensed as a Georgia Surplus Lines, P & C Agent and Insurance Counselor. Recently in 2014, Dorothea earned her Registered Professional Liability Underwriting certification, which is a specialty designation sponsored by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society known as PLUS. She also received her Certified Insurance Counselors designation and license in 1998 and completed her Certified Risk Management in 2001. As key sponsor and member of the National Insurance Women Association, she received her Certified Professional Insurance Woman designation in 2001.
She was recently on the recognized by Insurance Business America as one of the Hot 100 of 2018 for Insurance Professionals in the US. She was nominated for this recognition by agents from across the country. Her Division has also appeared on the top 20 list for Professional Liability Brokers in the US.
Dorothea is a nationally recognized speaker, educating agents throughout the country as an educator representing National Alliance of Insurance Professionals or as it is more commonly known “Certified Insurance Counselor” program. Insureds and Agents seek her out to represent them because of her ability to bring Professional Liability coverage forms into perspective. She accomplishes this by bridging the language gap between Insureds, Agents, Claim Adjusters and Underwriters through assisting them with coverage perspectives and how insurance forms come together. Her unique position and skill sets allow her the opportunity to speak to various professional organizations all across the country.
On a personal note she is working hard with one kid in college and one to go. She love puzzles, cooking and creating pottery. She is a Helen Foster Award winning Girl Scout Volunteer who believes in Courage Confidence and Character as the fundamentals for a strong Girl Scout troop or raising a strong team. She believes anything is possible, if you are will to pay the price for it.
